Restaurant’s concert cash is sweet music for oldest festival

Top Scottish curry restaurant The Radhuni has renewed its sponsorship of Midlothian’s oldest and largest local festival in the town where it opened more than 10 years ago.

Its latest donation will fund one of the main events in Loanhead’s Gala Festival – a concert to be held on a purpose-built stage on the town’s Fountain Green on Thursday 23 June.

Ross Perfect (pictured left), Chairman of the Committee which organises the festival, commented: “Radhuni is a regular and much appreciated donor. Its support is vital since we depend heavily on contributions from local businesses as well as our own fundraising.”

He recalled being shown round Radhuni even before it was launched in 2011 and added: “It’s become a marvellous restaurant with first class quality of food, service and surroundings.”

This year’s festival, which starts on 19 June, will include its first street procession since 2019 because the past two years’ events were cancelled because of Covid.

Habibur Khan, Managing Partner of Radhuni which was Scotland’s Curry Restaurant of the Year in 2020 and 2021 said: “The pandemic has made the past couple of years very difficult for us and the entire hospitality sector but we are always there to support our local community. We regard the Gala Festival committee as part of our family.”
