Midlothian’s most successful restaurant has been praised in the Scottish Parliament after receiving its latest major culinary accolade.
In a motion at Holyrood Colin Beattie, MSP for Midlothian North and Musselburgh, saluted “the great work done in the constituency” by The Radhuni in Loanhead.
Mr Beattie said its retention of a coveted AA Rosette for the fourth year in a row was a vindication of “staff’s commitment to deliver quality food using fresh ingredients.” His motion noted that it is one of only five Indian-style restaurants in Scotland to hold one or more Rosettes for culinary excellence.
The Radhuni has twice won the title of Scotland’s Curry Restaurant of the Year in the British Curry Awards and last year was named the UK’s best curry restaurant by trade magazine Curry Life.
It and its sister restaurant Itihaas in Dalkeith are currently helping Barnardo’s, the largest UK children’s charity, to raise money for Christmas gifts for deprived kids in and around Edinburgh and Midlothian by donating 1% of their total takings throughout December.
“We are honoured to have received this tribute in the Scottish Parliament and very much appreciate our MSP’s support,” commented Radhuni’s Managing Partner Habibur Khan.
He added: “Staying at the top of our restaurant sector demands constant dedication, hard work, professionalism and skill by every one of our kitchen and front of house staff. Like me they are thrilled their efforts have been recognised in the national legislature.”
