Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before you visit, book, or order from The Radhuni.

Visiting Us

The Radhuni is located in Loanhead, Midlothian — just a short drive south of Edinburgh city centre. By car, you’re looking at roughly 15 minutes via the A701 or A702. There’s free parking available, making it easy to reach from Edinburgh, Bonnyrigg, Penicuik, and the wider Midlothian area. We’re a proper destination restaurant, and the short journey is absolutely worth it.

We’re approximately 6–7 miles south of Edinburgh city centre, which is around a 15-minute drive in normal traffic. Loanhead is well connected by road and easy to reach from most parts of Edinburgh. If you’re coming by public transport, ask us about the closest bus routes and we’ll point you in the right direction.

Yes, free parking is available near the restaurant. We know that driving out for a proper Indian meal is an occasion, and the last thing we want is parking to be a headache. Come by car and leave the stress behind — just focus on enjoying your evening.

Absolutely — we love having families dine with us. Our team is used to looking after young diners and we’re always happy to suggest milder dishes suitable for children. The atmosphere at The Radhuni is warm and relaxed, so there’s no need to worry about little ones enjoying themselves. A family meal out should be a pleasure, not a stress, and we do everything we can to make it that way.

Bookings & Reservations

Yes, and we’d always recommend booking in advance — especially on Friday and Saturday evenings and for groups of four or more. You can reserve a table by calling us directly or through our online booking form. Walk-ins are always welcome when we have space, but a reservation means your table is guaranteed and we can prepare for you properly.

Yes — The Radhuni is a wonderful venue for private dining, birthday celebrations, work dinners, anniversary meals, and group gatherings. We can accommodate groups of various sizes and are happy to discuss bespoke menus and arrangements to suit your occasion. Get in touch with us directly and we’ll make sure your event is one to remember.

We do offer catering for weddings, corporate functions, and larger events. We’d love to bring the flavours of The Radhuni to your special occasion. The best thing to do is get in touch as early as possible so we can discuss your requirements, put together a menu, and confirm availability. Every event is different and we’re happy to tailor things to your needs.

Our opening hours can vary, especially around public holidays. The most reliable way to check our current hours is through our Google listing or by giving us a quick call. We’re generally open for both lunch and dinner service — please check before making a special trip, particularly on Bank Holidays.

Food & Dietary Requirements

Yes, we have a generous selection of vegetarian and vegan dishes — Indian cuisine is naturally rich in plant-based cooking, and ours is no exception. You’ll find dishes like dal tadka, chana masala, aloo gobi, and various vegetable curries on our menu, all cooked with the same care and spice as our meat dishes. Just let us know your preference when you book or order and we’ll make sure you’re not short of options.

We take food allergies and intolerances very seriously. Our kitchen can accommodate many requirements including gluten-free, dairy-free, and nut-free requests. The most important thing is that you tell us about any allergies when you book your table or place your order — that way our chefs can prepare your meal with full awareness and take the necessary precautions. Please don’t hesitate to ask our staff; we’d rather know upfront.

We’re happy to discuss our ingredients and sourcing with you. Please contact us directly and we’ll give you a clear, honest answer about our halal options and how our food is prepared. We want every guest to feel comfortable and confident in what they’re eating.

Our customers keep coming back for our chicken tikka masala, lamb bhuna, and our Bengali fish curry — a dish rooted in the culinary traditions of Bangladesh that’s genuinely difficult to find anywhere else in Edinburgh. The garlic naan is a firm favourite too, freshly made and best enjoyed straight from the kitchen. Our staff are always happy to recommend dishes based on what you enjoy, so don’t be shy about asking when you visit.

Takeaway & Delivery

Yes, we offer both takeaway collection and home delivery. You can place a takeaway order by calling us directly, or order online through our website or delivery platform partners. Delivery is available to Loanhead and surrounding areas of Midlothian and Edinburgh — check our online ordering system for your postcode.

Yes — online ordering is available for both collection and delivery. Visit our Online Ordering website to place an order, or find us on our delivery platform partners. If you’d prefer, you’re always welcome to call us and place your order over the phone the old-fashioned way. Either works for us.

About The Radhuni

The Radhuni is rooted in authentic Bengali and Indian cooking — not the kind of curry house food you can find anywhere, but dishes made from scratch with freshly prepared spices and recipes passed down through generations. We don’t use pre-made curry bases or shortcuts. Every dish is cooked with real care and attention, and you can taste the difference. We’re also deeply proud of our connection to the local community in Loanhead and Midlothian, where we’ve been serving guests for years. Come in and judge for yourself — we think you’ll notice the difference.
