Abdul was born in 1918 along the banks of Bangladesh’s Manu river. In the first place, he benefited from a deeply-rooted understanding of native spices, vegetables and rice. His passion grew from the ground up. Henceforth, he brought that significantly innate understanding of the subcontinent’s fullest flavours to the United Kingdom. Soon after, his son Makkadus Khan, worked his way to Sous chef. Grandson Matin then became a well-known Cambridge maître d’.
After that, their fusion of time-honoured recipes and ingredients was combined with contemporary culinary know-how. As shown above, it was a winning formula. All of a sudden the business took off with the first independent Indian restaurant in St. Albans. It is also evident in the business’s flagship Indian restaurant, Itihaas in Dalkeith near Edinburgh. Now, almost three decades later, Matin extends the family legacy to every customer that walks through the restaurant’s doors.
You may find yourself experiencing Abdul Monaf Khan’s gift of fresh and flavour-packed ingredients. Or taking note of Makkadus’ and Matin’s award-winning knack for friendly service and creative dishes. Whatever your favourite dish may be, you can tell The Radhuni is something more than just another Indian restaurant.
We’re driven by a passionate management team with over 25 years of combined catering experience, and our whole philosophy is family-friendly.
